World record holder Tobi Amusan has emerged as the national champion for the fourth consecutive time at the women’s 100 meters hurdle of the Nigerian Athletics Championships in Benin, clocking a time of 12.70s under wet conditions.

The win makes it her 4th national title in a trial; that will be used to select athletes for Team Nigeria for the 19th World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary scheduled to hold from the 19th to 27th of August 2023. 

Akwa Ibom’s Comfort James emerged as the women’s 800m national champion. She powered ahead of Saibu Yetunde with a time of 2:07.96.  Meanwhile, in other events, Ifeanyi Ojeli finished 2nd in the men’s 400m.
