The People’s Democratic Party’s G5 Integrity Governors, comprising of Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State have joined their Abia counterpart, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to flag off the 2023 electioneering campaign of the party in the state.
At an event held at the Umuahia Township stadium which had all 34 candidates of the party comprising 24 House of Assembly candidates, 8 House of Representatives, and 3 Senatorial including Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for Abia South Senatorial seat and the Governorship and Deputy governorship candidate of the party in attendance also saw the presentation of party flags to the candidates.
Speaking at the event, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu emphasized that no other political party exists in Abia except PDP describing other parties as mushroom parties stolen from PDP’s dustbin.
Governor Ikpeazu while expressing confidence in the party to win the 2023 elections free and square added that the candidates of other political parties have no zero electoral value and expressed confidence that the party will win free and square at the 2023 polls noting that the PDP has set the precedence for others to follow.
The G 5 Integrity Governors in their separate speeches explained that they were in the state to complement what their brother Governor is doing adding that the PDP is committed to winning the 2023 elections and urged Nigerians to continue to keep fate with the party as they continue to take Nigeria out of the blues.
Earlier the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Allwell Asiforo in his welcome address said the event marked the culmination of the 184 ward-to-ward campaigns of the party which started a few weeks ago and geared towards strengthening the fellowship of PDP with Abians and handing over flags to the party’s candidates describing them as a credible candidate and capable.
The Campaign Director General, Chinedum Elechi, also maintained that Abia is PDP and would remain so even after the 2023 elections.
Represented by his Deputy, Hon. Stanley Ojigbo, Elechi described her candidates as credible and capable and called on Abians to vote for the party for the sustainability of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s giant strides.
Prof. Uche Ikonne the Governorship candidate of the party also promised to sustain the good works of the Governor if elected at the 2023 polls insisting that he has all it takes to move Abia forward.
The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and the Ikwuano/Umuahia House of Representatives candidate who spoke on behalf of other House of Representatives candidates assured that the party will not rest on her oars until victory is gotten adding that Abia remains a PDP state beyond the 2023 elections.
