The Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia, Most Rev. Dr Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, has said that he would not recognise anyone as Nigeria’s President-elect yet until the lawsuits arising from the February 25 Presidential poll are dispensed with by the judiciary. The cleric expressed bewilderment over the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to upload the results of the presidential election from polling units to its server via the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS machines as required by the new Electoral Act, and as earlier promised by the Commission. He said that allegations of heavy manipulation of the presidential poll results were too weighty to be ignored, hence his resolve not to acknowledge anybody as president-elect until the court delivered the final judgement on the various petitions against the INEC declared winner of the contest.
