A member representing Obingwa East state constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly and leader of the PDP caucus, Solomon Akpulonu, has been suspended for 14 sitting days.
Making the pronouncement on the floor of the Abia State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the House, Emmanuel Emeruwa, said the 8th Abia House of Assembly cannot tolerate acts of insubordination, adding that Akpulonu has been inciting members of the House against the leadership of the 8th Assembly.
Meanwhile, Akpulonu has described his suspension by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa during Tuesday’s plenary, as an attempt to intimidate him and his party in the house. The Abia lawmaker maintained that he is not perturbed by his suspension; adding that the actions of the Speaker and Labour Party are completely wrong,
Akpulonu insists that the PDP with majority members of eleven cannot become the minority in the House where Labour Party has ten members, the Young Progressive Party has two members and the All Progressive Congress one.
